Welcome to the art of threadpainting!
Landscapes with texture and depth of color draw you into remembered or familiar scenes. Think of a canvas made of the softness of fabric embellished with three-dimensional threads counterbalanced by touches of wire or stone. Start with photos of a favorite scene; combine and manipulate them to just the right look, draft to desired size, choose fabrics that showcase each element of design, add layer upon layer of thread selected to highlight the smallest details, then enhance with three-dimensional sculpture.

My Background
My interest in quilting began when a friend showed me how to piece and quilt a pillow top by hand - that's all it took! My first project was a king-size quilt which took me three years to finish - that was in 1986. Since then I have taken a multitude of workshops, traveled the country to attend quilt shows and to take classes from internationally-renowned artists and have spent countless hours at my sewing machine developing my skill.
I taught classes in my Maine studio and other venues from 1992- 2015. I have been fortunate to win several awards with my quilts and landscape thread paintings; several pieces have been juried into national shows. My art is available by private purchase or through Island Artisans in Bar Harbor, Maine and Northeast Harbor, Maine during their summer/fall seasons.
Opportunities are endless!
